Taking HR Digital in the Wild: Enazen Global Consults Trains UWA Staff in Bwindi

Enazen Global Consults recently partnered with the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) to deliver an impactful 7-day corporate skills training series across the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, equipping UWA field staff —true guardians of Uganda’s Most Treasured natural heritage with the tools to better manage their human resource operations via the brand-new HRMIS system.

1. A Journey Through Bwindi's Vital Outposts

We began our training in Buhoma, the administrative heart of the National Park, and went on to engage personnel stationed at all four major trailhead sectors:

  • Buhoma – the northern gateway where gorilla trekking began;

  • Ruhija – perched on the eastern ridges with panoramic views and rich birdlife.

  • Rushaga – the bustling southern sector offering the renowned Gorilla Habituation Experience.

  • Nkuringo – Bwindi’s southwest trailhead distinguished by its quiet terrain and breathtaking.

  • Mt, Mgahinga Gorilla N.P

2. Rolling Out HRMIS, From Kampala to the Forest

Our mission kicked off in Kampala alongside Afande Chris from UWA Headquarters and the dedicated HR team in Bwindi Conservation Area (Bwindi CA). From there, we traveled on rugged, winding roads into the wilderness, where each day unfolded in a new sector.

In each outpost, rangers, wardens, trackers, and support staff—guardians of Uganda’s heritage—convened for hands-on training. They learned everything from data entry and payroll management to leave tracking, all through the lens of digital empowerment. The engagement fostered workflow clarity and operational efficiency throughout the park’s teams.

3. The Rhythm of Seven Days in the Forest

  • Day 1 (Buhoma HQ): Orientation, system walkthrough, baseline assessment.

  • Days 2–4 (Ruhija & Nkuringo): Hands-on training at high altitudes, where participants tackled HRMIS tasks against breath-taking backdrops.

  • Days 5–7 (Rushaga & MT Mgahinga G.N.P): Final integration and feedback sessions. Here, amidst ongoing habituation work and sweeping valleys, HRMIS was officially adopted as the new standard.

4. More Than Training—Immersed in Culture and Conservation

These sessions were far more than technical workshops. They celebrated:

  • The hilly majesty and ancient forest canopy of Bwindi, home to elusive mountain gorillas and extraordinary biodiversity.

  • The indomitable spirit of UWA’s front-line staff;

  • The winding paths, bird songs, and cultural resonance of the Batwa communities hidden within the forest’s depths.

5. A Legacy of Collaboration

Beyond the laptops and systems, we witnessed firsthand the commitment these officers have—not just to their work, but to protecting one of the most ecologically significant places on Earth.

This collaboration strengthened digital capacity while honoring conservation’s human core. Staff from Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga, and Nkuringo are now empowered with seamless HR operations, setting the stage for stronger management, better welfare practices, and improved morale across Bwindi.

In summary: Enazen Global Consults brought tech, training, and trust to Bwindi—bridging Kampala headquarters, rugged terrain, and conservation hearts. This journey reflects not only the digitization of human resource processes but the enduring commitment to support those who safeguard Uganda's irreplaceable natural heritage.
